Oh yes, my first blog post on trends for ANY AGE, all thanks to your feedback!!!

The baroque trend is going to be around a lot this winter so I thought I'd post a little something on how to ba-"roque" this trend (sorry, couldn't help the pun!!), no matter what your age.

The baroque trend is inspired by heavy patterned detail, textured fabrics, embroidery and brocade. Opulence is key - I mean they didn't have their men in 1600's wearing fancy white curly haired wigs because they valued simplicity....these baroque-ians enjoyed a bit of lush detail!!!

To keep it modern though, retailers today have mixed it up with a bit of rock'n'roll, teaming the more traditional baroque influences with shiny gold fabrics and leather to keep the look a bit edgy.

So, how do you wear it?

I'm in my roaring 20's !!

Alright, I hear you sister. This is the time to be bold and go hard. Wear the short skirts. Enjoy voluminous shapes and silhouettes before you grow hips and tummies. So, relish skirts like this flouncy gold satin number - but make sure you wear it with a fitted top (maybe even in leather) so we still see a bit of your shape (remember volume & proportion is everything).

I'm juggling everything in my life 30's

Yep, you've got to juggle career, house, possibly kids, and it's just not going to happen for you unless you are in an outfit that lets you MOVE. So layer this roomy, comfy blouse over jeans and under a jacket if you need to, or pop a long scarf over it. Perfect for all those lunch dates, school dates and hubby dates. This is trendy without being OTT (over the top). Warning: this top is sheer, so layer a shorter nude or longer black cami underneath.

I've got the world at my feet 40's

You know what? Now's the time for you to start treating yourself. Maybe a nice dinner or two, or even a night at the theatre. Whatever takes your fancy, do it in this textured black dress. I have this myself from the summer season in a plain white fabric. And ladies - it shows off my waist, it helps suck in my tummy, the little cap sleeves balances out the width of my hips and hides the top of my arms, and the wide open neckline shows off my décolletage - the best bit of most bodies. This dress is baroque doing va-va-voom. Or should I say ba-ba-voom (oh the hits just keep coming in this post!!!)

I love myself more now than ever 50's

You're smarter, wiser and you don't sweat the small stuff anymore. Which means you can wear this blazer without sweating. OK, maybe sometimes it will feel a tad warm in this blazer but that is because it is so smoking hot!!! There is nothing sexier and more indulgent than velvet. You will love stroking the fabric. Other people will also love stroking the fabric. (Hopefully you know them). It's navy, so goes with most things. Wear it with jeans for a more casual look or thrown over an evening dress to add some real drama. The single button style is flattering for most shapes and the wide deep V-neck will elongate and lengthen.

The glamour years 60's

Sure these are the glamour years but you want to stay WARM. There's nothing worse than feeling cold in winter. And now there's a way to stay cozy like a cocoon while looking super glam. Throw this classic, elegant coat over anything and finish it with a coloured scarf for a bit of colour. The simple, clean lines and lack of fussy detail will keep this being a timeless piece in your wardrobe.
