Welcome to today’s Style Inspiration: The Creative!

Kimba of Kimbalikes is a beauty junkie with a passion for fashion and a zest for fun.

She is a silver lining girl, who loves a hair bow, a bold brow and a non matchy matchy shoe-handbag combo.

Colour makes her happy and print clashing is her jam.

Kimba spills the beans on her outfit:

Do you ever buy things and just not wear them?

Pull them out of your wardrobe, lay them out with an outfit and then grab something else?

Pop it on and then switch at the last minute?

The Little Lace Top

This little lace top I’m wearing has more lives than a cat.

It’s survived countless culls and I’ve never actually worn it before.

I bought this little lace top about three years ago on a girls’ weekend away to Byron Bay.

I found it in a lovely little vintage store.

It’s handmade, probably in the 80s, and I’m pretty sure it started off life as a net curtain.

It has a shaped hem and is designed to be worn not tucked in.

The Look and Inspiration

However, inspiration struck when I was looking for a top to team with my Sunspel cotton print skirt recently.

The skirt has an elastic fabric gathered waist – a lot like a pair of boxer shorts – and really needs a belt to pull it together.

I nearly discarded the little lace top again but decided to tuck it in. With the addition of my new Gorman mustard leather belt, the top took on a new lease of life.

Gee, I’m glad I saved it!

To keep myself nice, I’m wearing a vintage cotton slip under the lace top.

It acts as an extra layer for the unlined skirt too. It dates from the 1950s and I bought it to use as a nightie, but it makes an excellent layering piece too.

The Accessories

I’ve added some preppy chic with my pale grey flat point toe leather loafers from Witchery and Mimco Sportivo Timepeace.

I’m mixing it up with a little boho chic with my Isle & Tribe tassel lariat-style necklace, and my Mila & Ruby customisable leather cuff.

I am usually not a loyal bag lady. I love bags, and own so many, that I like to switch them.

Often on a daily basis.

I get myself around the issue of forgetting items by using a Borne Naked bag liner or a mini clutch inside a bigger bag.

However, my Il Tutto Pixie Mini bag in Gold has been on solid rotation.

It’s become go to bag, because it’s easy to carry, goes with everything and carries a hell of a lot considering its diminutive size.
